Sandra Rodriguez is a multidisciplinary artist working at the insertion of art, technology and human experience. A filmmaker, speaker and sociologist of new media technology (PhD), she creates linear, interactive and immersive experiences garnering multiple awards (including a Peabody, Numix, Best VR Leipzig, best storytelling UNVR, and a Golden Nica at Arts Electronica). In the last 15 years, her work diverts intended uses of machine-learning, generative AI or large language models, to explore their pitfalls and potential uses in unexpected forms - from AI augmented ballet performance, to multi-user explorations of human cognition, installations on Data and Desire and large-scale exhibits. Rodriguez is a Sundance Storylab fellow and a Sundance Institute and MacArthur Non-Fiction Grantee. Between 2015-2022, she was a visiting artist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she led HackingXR, MIT’s first official course on emergent media. She creates works of art today, that speak about issues that will affect us all tomorrow.
Sandra Rodriguez est une artiste multidisciplinaire située au croisement de l’art, la technologie et l’expérience humaine. Réalisatrice documentaire et chercheure en technologies médiatiques (PhD), elle réalise et produit des longs-métrages, oeuvres interactives, expériences de réalité virtuelle et étendues et développe des outils technologiques qui ont lui valent de nombreux prix: Peabody, meilleures oeuvres VR (Leipzig, IDFA, UNVR), des Numix et un prestigieux Golden Nica à Ars Electronica. Ces quinze dernières années, elle détourne des systèmes d’apprentissage machine, IA générative et larges modèles de langage, pour en faire des performances de danse-augmentée, des expériences multi-utilisateurs, des installations muséales ou expositions à grande échelle. Rodriguez est Fellow du Sundance StoryLab, boursière du Sundance and MacActhur Foundation Grant en non-fiction. Elle a été mentor, conférencière ou jury à Tribeca, Cannes, SXSW, CPH:Dox, etc. De 2015 à 2022, elle inaugure “HackingXR” au Massachusetts Institute of Technology, le premier cours officiel du MIT en arts émergents. Elle crée des œuvres innovantes, qui parlent aujourd’hui des enjeux qui nous affecteront tous demain.
